EYESHADOW!

Okay, so, I've always had a lot of difficulty with eyeshadow. I have lot's of it and I have no idea how to use it! I've gone from youtube makeup tutorials to my sister trying to teach me. And all that I have been told is to put light eyeshadow on the actual lid and then darker eyeshadow around the eye socket bone bit. But that is no help at all! Whenever I try my eyes look like a mess.
Im sure there are a lot of people out there that are having this problem as well..
So I will go out and try all the best tutorials to help the 2 people that read this blog! :)
I'll be back.. hehe.

just to let you know,

To the limited people that are actually reading this blog-
I haven't been blogging for such a long time that I forgot I even had one!
But I'm back now, hoping to make it better,
:)

kaya, oh kaya!

Ever since I first watched the British TV series 'Skins' I fell in love with the beautiful Kaya Scodelario! I fell in love with her style, her dark personality and her eye-catching visual features. Most girls (and boys but they never show it!) stare at her in awe! She is also a model for a few different magazines AND she was voted 13th in UK edition of FHM's 100's World's Sexiest Women! So she has been very successful with her looks.
Here is a good look of some of her modelling pictures.

Isn't she just wonderful!

ah, the dread

Today I am packing for a trip back to Oxford. I've been back in my hometown just for a holiday, it has been a bit of a bore but I got past it with a few books and movies in my warm bed! But now it is time to have the horrible 20 hour flight + 2 ⅔ hours in Tokyo. But that's not all! The flight goes off at 10pm so I have to stay up all day and an extra 25 hours! We will also arrive at our unfurnished home. Look's like we'll be sleeping on the floor! I can't sleep on flights, I find it impossible. So I am not the most excited girl in the world today, But I hope I can get through it all. Wish me luck ☹

xoxo, sophia!

that special day

Almost everyone is still trying to getting over the beautiful wedding dress that entered Westminster Abbey the other day.
So of course today I want to blog about wedding dresses.
Everyone wants to have a gorgeous wedding dress to walk down the aisle on their special day
made of the most expensive, yet lovely, materials.
So here are some ideas for a vintage wedding-
(I know not all of you want a vintage wedding but these are just idea's of what I would like my dress to be like when I grow older!)

^^ This is most definitely my choice of dress! It's stunning lace at the bottom is just to die for and I would wear it any day- even on the streets just to go shopping :)

Just a drawing but still a very nice vintage dress that would look great. I love the top half of the dress.

This would obviously be for people that like to dress a little OTT!
It looks wonderful on this lady but I don't this is the type of dress that would suit a lot of women.

I know I am a little bit too young to be deciding my wedding dress but I just can't help myself seeing as I am obsessed with Kate Middleton's wedding dress.
I cried when I saw it!
But I would just love to say-

Congratulations Wills and Kate!

on my way..

On the way to school,
This is me on the way to my old school a year ago- there was no uniform so everyday I would like to dress up and not just into a pair of shorts and a top.
What I am wearing-
Headscarf- a hand me down from my grandma
Violet coloured, flower patterned shirt- From a secondhand shop
Patchy Jeans- Cheap Mondays (Lots of people ask me if I put the patches on myself but that is how I bought them)- €50 from Paris but you can buy them from any Cheap Mondays store over the world.
Shoes- I know you can't really see them but they are tan brogue type shoes from an Australian chain store called 'Sportsgirl'. $40 from Australia.
Bag- Vegan leather (you can hardly see it) Also from Sportsgirl. $30

eyeliner

Eyeliner
The difficulty that I have with makeup is when it comes to putting on my eyeliner. My hand is not steady at all so my hands are either slipping everywhere or I quickly go to blink and forget to take my liquid liner off my eyelid. I end up messing it up multiple times and getting so angry that I have to scream into my pillow. I'm sure everyone has had that horrible experience! So here are some tips to have the perfect eye makeup.

1. So that you can see what you are doing, in front of the mirror tilt your head back and look down into the mirror.
2. Don't draw a thick line, it looks very heavy and doesn't look too good! Do a nice thin line.
3. As everybody should know, liquid liners should only be used on your top eyelid.
4. Whilst using liquid liner it requires a steady hand. (I guess I should be using an eye pencil instead!)

The top eyelid eyeliner all began with the Egyptians.
Cleopatra and King Tutankhamun are the definition of eyelid liner!
But it of course went out of fashion and finally came back in the 1900's. All the ladies looked amazing with it and then of course it went back out of fashion again.
Now, finally, it's come back in again and my sister told me the other week that it is all because of the model, Kate Moss.
THANK YOU KATE MOSS!

inspiration

This is inspiration for my form of style.
I have always been a fan of the 1940-60 dress style. They are difficult to find these days unless you rave through all the secondhand shops you can find! I really hope that this style of dress comes back into fashion very soon. The tied up t-shirt has already come back in with some of the younger girls (girls like me!)- they are excuses to show off our stomachs!

This is me,

(Photos taken by a Nikon D700)
Me on one of my grungy days, except it doesn't really show what I'm wearing!

sophia unpacked

I have always had a liking for quirky fashion styles but seeing as I am only 13 years old I am not quite sure what I want to dress like for my adult years. Because of this I have tried many different styles such as the 1940's great gatsby look, grunge styles from the 1990's and I even dressed like a hippy for a while! I have always felt that I am different but I guess that's what everybody likes to think. I believe that my inspirations are Audrey Hepburn, Edie Sedgwick, Alice Dellal, Marilyn Monroe and my sister. You may be wondering why my blog name is Sophia's Suitcase- it is because I travel a lot and have recently moved from a hippy beach town in Australia, 'Byron Bay' to the famous English city, Oxford. I don't have a lot of clothes but I do think that you don't have to have lot's of money to have a good sense of style! Expect to hear back from me soon!
